Parents Care offers Drug/Alcohol Awareness, Prevention and Screening (APS) Kits for the home that are designed to “help parents help their teens make healthy choices.”

Our goal is to reduce the likelihood that teens will use tobacco, alcohol or drugs during their middle and high school years.

Parents: Follow the 4 P’s:

  • PREPARE (Award-winning Softcover Book and Downloadable PowerPoint Computer Presentation)
Educate yourself and then make your family aware of some of the challenges facing your child in his/her teen years related to alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
  • Be PROACTIVE (Teen/Parent Contract and Family Discussions)
Engage your children in direct discussions regarding tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Use the downloadable PowerPoint presentation as a guide and, if appropriate, fill out and sign the Teen/Parent contract to clarify responsibilities, privileges and consequences.
  • PREVENT (Breathalyzer and Drug Screening)
Have the ability to screen your teen to provide a positive disincentive to engage in negative behavior. Most kids know that when parents are willing to test, the choice not to partake becomes an easier path to follow.
  • PARTICIPATE (Schools, Neighbors and Friends)
Don’t keep your purchase of a Parents Care “APS” kit a secret! Let your teen’s classmates’ parents, neighbors and friends know about this website and our product offerings. When teens begin to operate under common “healthy choice” guidelines, peer pressure is reduced, enabling a stronger, more effective, Parents Care program.
